MASTER OF HOSPITALITY ADMINISTRATION (MHA) EXECUTIVE ONLINE PROGRAM

An Opportunity to Explore and Grow

The Master of Hospitality Administration (MHA) at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas is an exciting, self-paced, online degree offering for professionals in the hospitality industry. Each course will lend power to your everyday activities as you employ new ideas and draw on time-honored theories. You'll explore the many facets of the hospitality industry and you will learn from experienced faculty members and other students from around the world. Plus, for your professional paper, you may choose to focus on some aspect or challenging issue of your company — taking the learning opportunities right into your office.

This program was designed with the busy professional in mind. Offered totally online, this program allows one to live anywhere in the world, work, travel and still receive a master's degree from an accredited, internationally renowned university program.

Program Structure

Classes run continuously throughout the year in five eight-week sessions and one can begin the program at any time. This 30-credit program is usually completed in 18 to 24 months but because of the unique scheduling, one could complete the degree in one year. The program includes ten, three-credit courses: six required courses including a professional paper and four electives. At least two classes are offered each session: one required class and one elective. Additional electives are offered based on student needs and interests.

Courses are offered online via WebCampus, a course management program. A computer and a password are all you will need to access your course materials and assignments. You'll even take tests and upload your homework while logged into the system. WebCampus also features a discussion system, a forum-type communication module and real-time chat capabilities for communicating with your professor and other students. Professors make themselves available by phone or online so questions and concerns can be addressed in a timely manner.

In a hurry to finish? In one year you could take both courses each of four sessions and tie everything together by taking a required course and working on your paper during the fifth session. On the other hand, you might find yourself very busy at work with pressing deadlines. Then you can simply skip a session, scheduling classes for when you have more time. It's up to you — it's your program.

All books and materials are included in the course fee and are shipped directly to your door upon registration.

Faculty

An important component of the program is the faculty. The William F. Harrah College of Hotel Administration features a faculty with both research and practical experience in all facets of the hospitality industry. Faculty members regularly publish both scholarly and applied research findings and work as consultants to the industry. Faculty members serve as advisors and chair committees for the professional paper presentation. The same professors who teach face-to-face classes on campus will be teaching your online courses.
