CERTIFICATIONS

There are currently two national certification programs available to recreation professionals. Both require the successful completion of post graduation written examinations. Therapeutic recreation professionals must be certified to practice. Career opportunities for all other recreation professionals are enhanced with the successful completion of the CLP examination. Students who complete the program at UNLV as recommended by the faculty, are prepared to sit for these examinations.

The Certified Leisure Professional (CLP) examination is administered by the National Certification Board of the National Recreation and Park Association and is administered semi-annually.

The Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) examination is administered by the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification (NCTRC) and is also offered semi-annually.
