THE DEPARTMENTS

Each department offers courses to facilitate the college's Bachelor of Science in Hotel Administration and courses related to their specific majors. Select a department to view detailed information about their offerings.

FOOD & BEVERAGE MANAGEMENT DEPARTMENT

This department offers an array of food and beverage courses, complete with hands-on laboratory experiences, extensive interaction with leaders in the food and beverage industry, and traditional classroom lectures and demonstrations.

Offering a Bachelor of Science in Culinary Arts Management, students can choose between two majors: Culinary Arts Management or Beverage Management. Or students can choose Foodservice Management with a Bachelor of Science in Hotel Administration. The department also provides all of the college's majors with a necessary background in food and beverage operations. In addition, the department operates a dining room, cocktail lounge, and three kitchens.

HOTEL MANAGEMENT DEPARTMENT

This department offers courses in hotel operations, gaming, human resources, information technology, and law. The department offers a Bachelor of Science in Gaming Management and majors in Gaming Management or Lodging and Resort Management with a Bachelor of Science in Hotel Administration.

The Hospitality Technology Laboratory, which meets the computing needs of the entire college, is also housed within this department.

RECREATION AND SPORT MANAGEMENT

Housed in the William F. Harrah Hotel College, the recreation and sport management major is a 124-credit program leading to a bachelor of science degree.The program allows students to gain the knowledge and skills necessary to manage programs, services, events, and facilities in the public, commercial, and nonprofit sectors. Our graduates are in demand and find employment in everything from student life and sport management to public parks and recreation

TOURISM & CONVENTION ADMIN DEPARTMENT

This department offers a major in Meetings and Events Management with a Bachelor of Science in Hotel Administration and a Bachelor of Science with a major in Recreation. Students can focus in areas such as meetings and expositions, entertainment and event management, tourism administration, and therapeutic recreation. Other courses include hospitality accounting and finance, hospitality marketing, and private club management. The department also offers instruction in association management, concert and sports arena management, and cruise ship management. Also available is a major in Recreation with a concentration in the Professional Golf Management program, certified by the PGA.
