About Part-Time Faculty
Part-time faculty members play a very valuable role within the academic community by augmenting the teaching effort of full-time faculty. According to the Northwest Council on the Accreditation of Colleges and Universities part-time and adjunct faculty are qualified by academic background, degree(s), and/or professional experience to carry out their teaching assignment and/or other prescribed duties and responsibilities in accord with the mission and goals of the institution. In the College of Hotel Administration p art-time faculty also possess unique skills and abilities that can enrich students learning experiences. Part-time faculty normally teach a maximum of two classes (six credits) per semester.

Hiring Criteria

Orientation
Part-time faculty participate in a university orientation addressing the policies and procedures for employees and a department orientation that focuses on issues including course structure, administrative procedures, class policies, webcampus, and webgrading. At the conclusion of the semester, the department chair will undertake an evaluation of the part-time faculty members teaching.

Benefits
The most significant benefit to part time faculty stems from the satisfaction derived from teaching. Further, the College of Hotel Administration considers part-time faculty to be critical partners in the preparation of individuals for successful careers in hospitality and recreation.
