Switzerland Study Abroad Program

General Information
For a truly unique summer experience, learn and live with the William F. Harrah College of Hotel Administration’s summer school in Montreux, Switzerland. Experience Swiss and European hospitality during a three-week summer session in the expansive Swiss Alps nestled in the center of Europe and along the shores of Lake Geneva.

The program is open to hospitality students throughout North America as well as UNLV. The program gives students an educational experience they can obtain in no other way. Credit for the three-week summer session is granted by UNLV.

The classes will meet four days per week in Montreux. Long weekends will permit guided and independent travel to hotels, attractions and restaurants in such destinations as Paris, the Riviera, Florence, Venice, Rome, and, of course, Switzerland.

Course Offerings

• TCA 449 - European Travel and Tourism (3 credits)
  Study of international travel and tourism. Focuses on the economic, social, political, and environmental considerations of international tourism management and development. Prerequisite: Upper-division standing.
  
  
• FAB 333 – Culture and Cuisine (3 credits)
  Explores foods and food ways of various cultural/ethnic groups. Considers origin and migration of foods and customs throughout the world. Studies food’s relationship to cultural groups, geographical location, social practices and economic well-being. Analyzes impact of multiple cultures on foods, food preparation, and food ways in the U.S. Lab fees required. Prerequisites: ENG101; 3 credits of social science core requirements.
