Graduate Internships

The primary purpose of the internship is to enable each student to meet his or her education objectives through participation in a well-planned and organized practical experience. The three-credit management internship, which is an individualized program of study, requires anywhere from 10 to 12 hours of work experience per week. Students are encouraged to seek and select internship agencies that offer a diversity of leadership and administrative opportunities in areas that correspond to their own professional goals.

Students who pursue a specialization in sport management must complete SLS 704: Management Internship. Students enrolled in SLS 704 complete a structured management internship in a sport or leisure service organization that focuses on specific administrative functions under the supervision of an agency manager and a university advisor. Prerequisites: SLS 703, SLS 716, and approval of the student's advisor. 3 credits.
