From the Editor:

Welcome to the UNLV Journal of Hospitality, Tourism and Leisure Science (HTL Science). This journal is dedicated to the advancement of comprehensive research in the science of hospitality, tourism, and leisure and their applications. It serves as a vehicle for dialogue to promote knowledge, interaction and the exchange of ideas as related to hospitality management, tourism and leisure.

The HTL Science encompasses, but is not limited to, topics regarding research, philosophy, practical application, management trends and current issues. The journal invites high-quality manuscripts, theoretical and/or empirical, involving various fields and areas to enhance the progress of the hospitality, tourism and leisure science and their industry applications. The main fields covered by the journal include lodging, food and beverage, leisure, recreation and sports, tourism, conventions, expositions, events, and education in hospitality, tourism and leisure. The HTL Science seeks articles in a wide variety of disciplines, sub-disciplines and issues that will enhance hospitality, tourism and leisure as a social science.

The HTL Science is currently published on the Internet, and will be published in print as well. Accepted articles are first published on the Internet. When sufficient articles have been published online, a printed volume will be published and made available for library and individual subscriptions.

HTL Science would not have been possible without the devotion and commitment of many colleagues of the William F. Harrah College of Hotel Administration, UNLV. In particular, I would like to thank Dean Stuart Mann and Professor Patti Shock for their strong support and involvement in launching the journal. I also wish to thank the Editorial Board members and reviewers for their time and efforts. Finally, I congratulate the authors of our first article, Dr. Arun Upneja and Dr. Michael Dalbor, on their contribution to the maiden voyage of HTL Science.

Zheng Gu, Ph.D.
