THE WRITING CENTER
The Writing Center offers a variety of free services to UNLV students. Writing Center consultants are English Department graduate students who assist students at all stages of the writing process, from generating ideas to developing and polishing later drafts. Consultants do not offer a proofreading or editing service, but they help students to identify patterns of grammar or punctuation problems and assist with correcting them. Appointments are 30 minutes or one hour in length. To make an appointment, call 895-3908 or stop by FDH 240 (on the second floor of Humanities Building ). Students can also walk in and see the first available consultant. The center is open at 9 a.m. Monday through Friday and stays open late two nights each week. Hours are announced at the beginning of each semester. In addition to the individual consultations, the Writing Center also offers a series of special workshops each semester on grammar, punctuation, and essay development. Please check the schedules at the Writing Center.
